Cold Prey

Forget what you heard. But Norwegian not only have a great airline for international flights out of LAX. But they make great horror films. In fact, they made one of my favorite slasher film trilogies. Cold Prey was dope as hell. It has all the elements you want in a slasher film. Final girl, relentless killer, a group of friends, remote location, and tense as scenes.

This series is somehow lost from the average horror genre fan’s list of go-to movies. But not mine. I probably watch Cold Prey 1, 2, or 3 whenever I fly internationally. It isn’t the most original film. But I am a true believer in simplicity is better than complexities in horror films. In a slasher film, the killer’s motives being critical isn’t as valuable as the killer and the scares you get. You just want to see if and how the final girl’s story ended. This film does that perfectly.

One of the aspects of the film that works for me is the strong performance of Ingrid Bolso Berdal. She really kicked ass in her role as Jannicke. The Mountain Man was just as impressive as the antagonist.

Roar Uthaug is a gifted directed. I felt like his work with the cinematographer, Daniel Voldhiem for this film really added to the story. It was a very pretty film. The camera work and composition of how the scenes were set were just amazing. I have not seen many of Roar’s film. But I feel like this film was the same reason with The Wave 2015 was such an astounding film. It was because Roar directed it. The better the director the better the film.  Please check this movie out if you have not seen it yet.
